About Us
Who We Are
Communities In Schools of Leon County began in 1997 to connect community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, graduate and prepare for life. We are actively involved in working with at-risk students from the kindergarten level through high school.

Our Mission
The mission of Communities In Schools is to champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, graduate and prepare for life. Our mission is clear, and our assessment, collaboration and results-based planning process has made CIS the nation's leading community-based drop-out prevention program. We are actively involved in working with at-risk students from kindergarten through high school.

Our Vision
Supporting and encouraging at-risk students in Leon County to ensure that everyone graduates.

Five Basics for Communities In Schools
Communities In Schools believes that every child needs and deserves these "Five Basics":
  1. A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
  2. A safe place to learn and grow
  3. A healthy start and a healthy future
  4. A marketable skill to use upon graduation
  5. A chance to give back to peers and community
All local CIS programs are designed to provide students with at least one of these real basics.
